12 Active Days of Christmas
Tis the Season to be active... Remember Public Health England advises that children are active for at least 60 minutes per day.
We have an in-school challenge. Like the song, the activities build over the 12 days to become a routine when it’s completed on the final day of term. For example, 1 tree pose, 2 side planks, 3 tuck jumps… Please see the folder.
Also, to include families, there is another 12 Active Days of Christmas programme to do at home. We would love to see your photos. Please see the folder.
Looking forward to the Tokyo Olympics, our school challenge is to run or walk 9,490km to Tokyo. So between us, we need to do 37,960 laps of the track! Please see the attached popowerpoint for more information.
In the first five weeks, we achieved over 1.3 million metres. Great running St Wilfrid's!
Personal Challenges - Autumn 2020
All children in KS2 have taken part in a Football Virtual competition and have enjoyed these personal challenges. Please see the attached folder; also see the folder of our wonderful Year 3 children in action.
Years 5 and 6 are practising for their Hockey virtual competition.
Last half term in PE, Year 5 and Year 6 children enjoyed playing tennis and greatly improved their skills. They may wish to consider joining Hartford Tennis Club. The charge is just £23 per year for primary school children.
If you can recommend any other local sports clubs, Mrs Clark would be grateful to hear from you.
National School Sports Week 22-26 June
There were sporting challenges every day at 9.30am and 1pm. Please see the VRSSP channel on YouTube.
This year's assembly with an athlete is with Pete Mitchell, a Paralympic cyclist; he is interviewed by Mr Armstrong from St Nicholas CHS. Look out for questions from two St Wilfrid's children. https://youtu.be/1X1bTTJtdHA
Being physically active for at least 60 minutes each day will help your child’s health, focus, wellbeing and increase their enjoyment of sport.
The following activities and challenges have been listed on your child’s weekly Home Learning Overview. It would be lovely to see photos of them getting involved - we could put these on the school website.
Thank you for your support, Mrs Clark

Students are required to be filmed completing the challenge and submitting their entries. Should parents/guardians wish to submit entries of their child, they should 'tweet' the video to @CWSchoolGames, @ActiveCheshire and @ValeRoyalSSP and also include the name of their school.
