ST WILFRID'S CATHOLIC PRIMARY

Governor Profiles

Mrs E Morrissey

Chair of Governors

Foundation Governor

My name is Elaine Morrissey and I have been a member of St Wilfrid’s Governing Body since August 2007 when I was appointed as a Foundation Governor by the Bishop. I became Chair of Governors in September 2011 and have recently been re-elected to serve as Chair for a second term of office. My previous background included working for almost twenty-five years for  Cheshire County Council in the childcare sector in a variety of roles, from managing a residential facility for Children with Special needs, Social Worker for Children with Special Needs and until 2001 as a Development Officer for Under 8’s, where I provided training and advice to those who worked with children under 8.I currently help my husband run our business which is in International Design and Development  and we are involved in designing new products to be used in the Gardening Industry. Our offices are based in Antrobus Cheshire. I am kept quite busy especially during school holidays looking after our three Grandsons. Both my husband and I being Roman Catholics, regularly attend Mass and we try to play an active part in the life of our local Church. Finally I passionately believe that our pupils must have the very best education and learning that the whole school community can provide and I know that as a team we can make St Wilfrid’s an outstanding school .

Fr P Standish

Foundation Governor

Parish Priest of St.John Vianney

Mrs R Blair

Foundation Governor

As a mother of children educated at St.Wilfrid's and St.Nicholas and a grandmother of four currently attending St.Wilfrid's, I have strong links with the schools and Parish for 27 years. Having a wide background in primary school teaching, in both Catholic and Non-Catholic schools in Scotland, Canada, Yorkshire, Cumbria as well as Cheshire, I hope to use this experience in my role as Foundation Governor. Looking forward, I want to see St.Wilfrid's progress to 'Outstanding' so that all children can achieve their full potential in a Christian environment.

Mr Allan Davies

Parent Governor

I am a family person and live in Kingsmead, Northwich, Cheshire. I have four children, two adult children who have three children each, hence I am a grandfather, as well as having two young children both attending St Wilfrid's school. I am now retired from full time work and spend my time looking after our home and my two girls. My wife is in full time occupation as a Safety and Environment Manager in the Civil Service.

I am professionally qualified in Environmental Health and Housing Management and spent 27 years working in the public sector; my last post was Director of Environmental Services in a unitary local authority with responsibility for regulation enforcement, licensing, building control, trading standards, waste management, highway maintenance and traffic management. I also worked for the Health and Safety Executive after leaving local authorities to head a policy unit. 14 years of my professional life I was employed by Tesco Stores to head the trading law and technical function, nationally. Seven years in the UK in the 80's and seven years in Ireland until my retirement in 2014.

I have previously worked closely with schools and colleges, supporting and promoting their curricula as well as spending a number of years as chair of, initially a primary parent/teacher association and subsequently as chair of a senior school PTA.

I am currently a member of the St Wilfrid's PTFA and also volunteer at the school two mornings a week together with providing help and support for school visits and workshops.

Mrs R Alderton

Parent Governor

I am a practising Catholic and have raised 3 sons in the Catholic faith.  They all attended the local Catholic Primary and High Schools.  I enjoy volunteering and paying back.  I recognise that the ethos within a Catholic School of "Love one another and treat everyone equally and with care" is paramount.  I trained as a Catechist at the age of 19 and have since helped at various times in children's liturgy.  I enjoy team work and also am happy to work on my own.

Mr Niel Jackson

Parent Governor

My name is Niel Jackson and I have 2 children presently at St Wilfrid's Catholic Primary School.  We have been a part of St Wilfrid's for approximately 7 years now and I am now able to take on the commitment of a Parent Governor.  I am fluent in English, Hindi, Malayalam, Italian and Urdu. I believe that being part of a Governing Body can help to improve the participation of everyone in all the school's activities.  I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with fellow governors, school staff, parents and the broader community to help shape the future of our school.  Together, we can uphold the school's values, enhance educational outcomes and create a welcoming and inclusive environment where every child can flourish.

Mrs F Rose

Foundation Govenor

I am a retired teacher and I have lived and worked in Hartford for the last thirty years.  I began my teaching career at St Benedict's in Handforth and moved into Special Education at Greenbank School in 1979.  I had my three daughters and then had three lovely years at St Wilfrid's as the SENCO.  I returned to Greenbank School for a full-time post.  I remained there until I retired five years ago.

I attend St Wilfrid's Church.  I am very excited to become more involved with St Wilfrid's School and hope I can use my experience and enthusiasm to support all governor colleagues, staff and above all the pupils at St Wilfrid's School.  I look forward to being able to visit school regularly and contributing to activities as well as working on committees.

Mr P Billington

Foundation Governor

Both myself and my wife Catherine were former pupils of St Wilfrid's and St Nicholas, but quite a long time ago!

We have 3 grown up children whom were all educated at St Nicholas before going onto University in Leeds and Liverpool.

We have been blessed with 6 grandchildren, with the eldest Grace now in her first year at St Nicholas, 4 attending St Wilfrid's at the moment and the youngest destined to start nursery her very soon.

My working life has been almost exclusively in Financial Services spending the first 36 years with Lloyds Banking Group before embarking on  a second career in Training and Compliance with my current role as Operation Manager for a Wealth Management company keeping me busy.

I enjoyed being a junior football coach with Hartford Boys FC for 10 years working through from the Under 8's up to the Under 18's, which I found very rewarding.

Banking relocation travels took us to North Wales, Shropshire and the Midlands before returning to Cheshire, in particular Hartford where we have lived since 1990.

My hope is to add value to the school by assisting Governors in matters that will benefit from my financial background experience whilst keeping an eye on Molly, Matilda, Max and Oscar plus preparing the staff to receive Martha in the near future.

Mrs P O'Hara

Foundation Governor

I am delighted to be taking on the role of a Foundation Governor at St Wilfrid’s. I have recently retired after 35 years of teaching which has been a real privilege and brought me great joy. Teaching in five catholic primary schools within three authorities has helped me develop a wealth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to support our school family.

I am passionate about children’s education, and even more so about how we should instil a love of life-long learning alongside our catholic teachings which will help set up our pupils on a journey to success, happiness and well-being, so that they are fully equipped to become confident, caring and productive members of our society.

My husband and I are active members of St Monica’s parish where our children attended the primary school. I enjoy spending time with my family, walking, reading and travelling to different countries.

Miss C Kirkham

Staff Governor

Hello, I'm Miss Kirkham and I am the Year 3 Teacher.  I absolutely love working at St Wilfrids and have been here for 5 years now.  I love working with children and helping them grow and flourish in exciting and stimulating environments!

This year marks my 7th year teaching!  I recently returned home from teaching in Shanghai, China, which was a fantastic eye opening experience!  I love to travel and explore new countries and cultures.  I am delighted to be a part of the Governing Body at St Wilfrid's Catholic Primary School.

Mrs E Buckhurst

Foundation Governor

I am a retired teacher and had the privilege of working at St Wilfrid's for 17 years prior to my retirement.  I loved my time working with the children, staff and school community.

I am happy to take on the role of Foundation Governor and will do my best to support Governors, staff and children in this wonderful school.
